THE PRACTICE
HISTORY
The firm was founded in 1932 by Cyril Morris, who originally practised from Mawdsley Street in the centre of Bolton, as a sole practitioner. As the years passed Cyril Morris was joined by Tom Arkwright and thus the firm acquired its present name.
Along the way Cyril and Tom were joined by Cyril's nephew Basil, and Tom's younger brother David Arkwright, together with Michael Shipley and Tom Profit. In 1966 the firm moved to its present main office at Churchgate House.
TODAY
Darin Millar, Joanne Barlow and Joanne Hutton all undertook their training with the firm and became Partners in 1999.
In 2008 the firm acquired the practice of Tony Alexander of Alexander & Co and more recently Phil O’Brien of J Esner & co has joined the team as a Consultant and the firm has acquired his practice.
In 2010, the firm further increased its size by acquiring the firm of Colin Rayner & Co, the popular practice situated in the heart of Astley Bridge. Colin Rayner joined Darin and the two Joannes in partnership and he continues to practice from the branch office on Blackburn Road at Astley Bridge while the other three partners can be found at the main office in town at Churchgate.
If you take a look through the meet the team section of the site what does emerge is the loyalty of all members of staff, many of whom have worked all their lives for the firm, which must say something positive about the firm’s quality, solidarity and team spirit.
