GRADUAL RETIREMENT OF MR. C. T. PROFIT
I have a New Year Resolution to move somewhat closer during the year to my eventual retirement, and feel that I should share my plans with a number of my clients and colleagues. I feel too young to disappear altogether, but intend, gradually, to take more of a background role and to leave much of my work in the hands of the younger Partners and staff.
I have now been with CMA for over 43 years, and feel that I need a little more free time to relax. I have decided that I should not take on any new matters after 1st January 2007, and they will be directed to other members of staff within my department. I will, however, continue to attend at the office for my current four days a week (not Mondays) at least until 30th June 2007. In that time, I will still handle my existing matters, and also give help and support to the other members of the team who will carry on after me.
After 30th June 2007, I intend on a regular basis to spend just two days a week at the office (probably Tuesdays and Thursdays) so that I can still be there in the background as an “elder statesman” for sometime yet.
I hope that all this will help to give me more spare time, whilst providing continuity for my clients and the benefit of my experience to members of staff.
New Trust Probate and Tax Matters will be in the capable hands of Lindsay Glover, who is a member of STEP (a specialised qualification in this area). She has been my understudy in this field for some while, but is now better qualified than me!
Many of you will also know Janet Farnworth, who has been with us for over twenty years and has a wealth of experience in Trust and Probate Matters. She will continue to provide her cheerful and efficient service, which has been invaluable to me.
New Commercial and other work will be undertaken by my Partner, Joanne Barlow, who may also be known to you. In turn, Joanne is very ably assisted by Tim Arkwright (David’s son) in the development of that area of work.
In many cases I have been appointed as an Executor in Wills or as a Trustee in Trusts and Settlements. I can see no reason for this to alter, and I would be happy to continue in that role.
I would like to thank you and other clients for your kind support and instruction over the years. I have enjoyed (mostly!) the challenge of the work, and I still hope to be involved for sometime longer, but more as a “backroom boy” than the first point of contact.
If you have any concerns or questions about my plans, or how they may affect you, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Mr. C. T. Profit, Solicitor
